10th Anniversary Celebration - Friday the 13th Zombie Walk

In celebration of our 10th Anniversary, Ginen i Hila’ i Maga’taotao Siha Association hosted its first FRIDAY THE 13TH ZOMBIE WALK on September 13, 2013. The event took place at the Paseo de Susana from 5 to 7:30 p.m. This event was free to the public, but donations were being accepted to benefit Rainbows for All Children - Guam.

Ginen i Hila'i Maga'taotao Siha Association was founded by Peter R. Onedera in 2003 and has been the literary arts delegation to the Festival of the Pacific Arts (FestPac) in Palau (2004); American Samoa (2008); and in the Solomon Islands (2012). The group is also preparing for its participation in Guam’s hosting of FestPac in 2016.

Thank you once again to all who joined us in this special event. For more information, please contact Peter R. Onedera at or at 486-3210.

This was the first group designated in an official capacity to represent the island as previous festivals normally consisted of visual artists, weavers, carvers, cultural singers and dancers. STORIES IN THE PARK: “Put si Tåta” - June 15

Master Storyteller Peter R. Onedera along with members of Ginen I Hila’ I Maga’taotao Siha Association will host an evening of storytelling focusing on “Put si Tåta” about DAD in the lives of families or individuals in tribute to Father’s Day.  The event will be held on the lawn area at the Skinner Plaza in Hågatña between the Guam Museum and the memorial statue on Thursday, June 15, 2017, at 6:30pm to 8:30pm.  Those attending this informal gathering must bring along mats, lawn chairs, chairs, benches or cushions as well as umbrellas in case of a change in weather.   Stories from individuals will be encouraged and welcomed with time allotments anywhere from five minutes to eight minutes depending on expected enthusiastic responses and those willing to share a story about fathers or father figures, living or deceased.  Please contact Onedera at for inclusion in the evening’s line-up.  This would be a wonderful opportunity for DADS to attend with their families.

Remembering the FESTPAC 2016 Song

FESTPAC 2016 Song

Lyrics by Peter R. Onedera

Music Arrangements by Benita Mesngon Lizama

What We Own,
What We Have,
What We Share,
United Voices of the Pacific.

Across the oceans, Pacific places,
these islands lie pride of the earth.
Rise all as one to reach the sky,
with wealth of tongues and hearts abound
We welcome all, our souls profound.

What We Own,
What We Have,
What We Share,
United Voices of the Pacific.

Art and music fill the air,
the ocean waves do declare.
Our languages and cultures, our Pacific share.
We show the world, we come together.
Our voices ring, we honor the ancestors.
Pacific harmony is what we bring.

What We Own,
What We Have,
What We Share,
United Voices of the Pacific.

This gathering of mankind to give and show
of timeless beauty who we are, our legacies bestow.
We stand as one, north and south, east and west
With spirit and pride,
Our heritage is our quest.

What We Own,
What We Have,
What We Share,
United voice of the Pacific.
United voices of the Pacific
United Voices of the Pacific!
